江戸時代には、その時々で、流行りの神様があった。800を超える神がいる日本ならではの現象だ。恵比寿様、お稲荷様、七福神など、今でもポピュラーな神々は、江戸時代に流行った神々だった。

Japanese believe over 800 gods is living in the country. Some gods was popular for a while, another gods got popular just after that in Edo period. That was just trends.

This is the symbol of democratic power at Tokyo at Edo period. They saw even gods as consuming goods.

I can see similar things now. Young women singers, politicians, writers and so on. The origin of Japanese democratic power has emerged in Edo period.
