子供向けの岩波ジュニア文庫の1冊だが、内容は、大人が読んでも、十分楽しめるものになっている。

王羲之の書の紹介に始まり、日本における、かな文字の誕生や、書を書く時の筆の扱い方など、書の初心者が、興味を持つように、考えられた構成になっている。

特に、田中正造、樋口一葉、はたまた、片岡鶴太郎の書など、類書では取り上げられない、珍しい人物の書も、紹介している。

そして最後には、書を自分で書いてみると、より楽しく感じられると、読者を促す。確かに、書いて見たい気持ちになってしまった。

This book is written for junior but sinor also can have a fun from this.

Uozumi introduces many kinds of topics regarding of Chinese and Japanese writings like Wang Xizhi, the bigining of Japanese Kana and the way of using Fude.

Finally the author recommends us to start writing by ourselves. I was motivated to do so much by reading this book.
