折口信夫 日本藝能史六講（講談社学術文庫） Hitory of Japanese Entertainment by Nobuo Origuchi

表題になっている文章は、折口信夫が昭和16年に行った講義録。他に、三味線と翁についての文章を収めている。

折口は、日本の芸能は、祭りにおける鎮魂をその源にしていると説いている。また、舞踏とは、外部からやってきた”まれびと”が、舞を舞う、ということよって始まったとしている。

また、翁に関する文章では、能で必ず演じられる翁とは、山人であり、それは、鬼や天狗といった存在と通じているとしている。

折口の主張の真偽はさておき、日本の伝統的な様々な要素を、大きな枠組みの中に位置付けてしまう、その構成力には、学者というよりは、天才的なひらめきのようなものを感じる。

The main part of this book is based on Origuchi's lecture notes.

Origuchi believed Japanese entertainment come from repose of souls. He also said that the origin of Japanese dance was played by visitors from outside in old age.

Some peoples are against Orgichi's theory. But I was impressive his ability to create whole picture by collecting many kinds of related incidents.
